Yesterday, about 2 p.m., a California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Hwy northbound Hwy 101. The driver fled at high speeds through rural roads eventually crashing into a tree in the 6000 block of Branscomb Road near Laytonville. The driver footbailed (fled on foot.)

The vehicle had been stolen out of Walnut Creek.

Witnesses saw the suspect flee on foot into a wooded area and described him as black with a bald or shaved head, 6 feet tall, in his 20’s, wearing a navy blue hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes, according to Officer Rick Fowler of the California Highway Patrol.

Fowler said local residents were notified by officers at the time, but the suspect has still not been located. He requested that if the suspect is spotted, please call 911 or your local CHP office.
