Emergency Personnel and traffic can be seen in this screenshot from a Caltrans road camera

Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate a solo vehicle that collided with the center divider has forced a temporary closure of some, possibly all of the southbound lanes of Highway 101 just south of the Howard Forest CALFIRE Station.

The closure was characterized as “temporary” until the road is cleared of the vehicle.

The Incident Commander confirmed the vehicle is blocking traffic and the accident is non-injury. Reports indicate at points people were standing in the roadway waiting for traffic to clear.

The Caltrans Quickmap indicates traffic is severely congested as a result of the incident.

UPDATE 1:19 p.m.: The roadway has been cleared and traffic is flowing smoothly.
