The National Weather Service in Eureka, California is predicting an “elevated” fire weather outlook today and tomorrow in the northeast Mendocino County, the eastern side of Lake County, and the southeastern edge of Trinity County.
Inland, a red flag warning has been issued across the northern Central Valley and into the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. During a Red Flag Warning, weather conditions can allow fires to start easier with “potential for rapid spread of fire.
High winds, higher than average temperatures, and low relative humidity converge to create an environment in which fires start quickly and spread rapidly.
