On 05-24-2022 at approximately 10:01 PM, UPD Officers were dispatched to the area of 200 Ford St. for multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Some callers provided descriptions of two vehicles that may have been associated with the shooting. As Officers responded they observed a vehicle in the area of N. Orchard  Ave. that matched the description of one of the vehicles. The two occupants of this vehicle were detained without incident.

An initial investigation confirmed that a pick-up truck passed by the area of the 200 block of Ford St. and the occupants had a brief interaction with a pedestrian. The truck drove eastbound, turned around and then drove back toward the pedestrian. As the truck turned onto Joseph St., multiple gunshots originated from the truck. These gunshots struck several vehicles and buildings in the area, but no one was injured. It appears a specific person was the target and this was not a random shooting.

UPD Detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Evidence was gathered at the scene, witnesses were interviewed and surveillance footage was reviewed. The two occupants of the vehicle that had been initially detained were eventually released.

This is an on-going investigation and anyone with information and/or video surveillance footage that may assist with the investigation are encouraged to contact UPD Detectives via the non-emergency number to dispatch (707-463-6262).

Rumors that the Ford Street Project was targeted or damaged as a result of the shooting are false. As this investigation develops, more information will be released in subsequent Press Releases.
