Scanner traffic indicates that a fire is burning near the south end of Ukiah near the intersection of Canyon Drive and Rosemary Lane. Ground and air resources are responding to the incident
The Incident Commander reported that the fire is currently a 1/2 acre in size burning in grass and oak woodland. The fire is reportedly burning at a moderate rate of spread with the potential to grow to 3-5 acres.
The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office issued the following situational awareness alert in response to the fire:
UPDATE 2:21 p.m.: The fire is approximate one-acre in size now and fire retardant is successfully stopping its progress. A firefighter at scene reported there is a structure towards the upper edge of the fire that could be threatened.
UPDATE 2:27 p.m.: Firefighters at scene are observing the fire seems to be slowing and do not believe air resources are needed for more retardant.
First responders are shutting down roads nearby the fire to control the area. The closures are centered around South Dora and first responder are still pinning down the exact area.
UPDATE 2:34 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported the fire’s forward progress has stopped. Fire lines are strengthening and the fire is holding around one-acre. Helicopters will continue water drops.

UPDATE 2:53 p.m.: Air and ground resources are describing the fire as looking “really good” as they solidify the firelines.

UPDATE 4:18 p.m. Fire suppression efforts are continuing this afternoon but the road closures have officially been lifted.
UPDATE 5:14 p.m.: CAL FIRE Mendocino Unit provided a final incident update. The fire grew to approximately 1.5 acres and is currently at 100% containment.
