Yesterday, July 2, 2022, the Redwood Valley community came together for the annual Black Bart Parade, organized by the Redwood Riders horse club. Jessie Taaning Sanchez, a horseback rider and proud resident of Redwood Valley, has organized the event for many years.
Retired Sheriff Tom Allman portrayed the infamous Black Bart and retired Sheriff Jim Tuso and current Sheriff Matt Kendall also attended. The Redwood Valley-Calpella Fire Department brought its fleet of vehicles out en masse for the parade along with an impressive selection of classic cars, floats, and passion projects.
The Redwood Valley Market had a hot dog stand, the Redwood Riders hosted a community BBQ serving chicken grilled by Richard Respini and Todd Boeck. Local band Severance provided the BBQ tunes.
The event continued into the evening at the Redwood Valley Grange Hall where the Raging Grannies opened for Alice DiMicele.
