Come to Ukiah Today to See Local Veterans and Active Military Channel Their Service Through Art

Today, everyone is invited to Ukiah’s Alex Thomas Plaza from 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. where a pop-up Community Art Cafe will feature local artists who have served in the United States Armed Forces or are on active duty.

Affiliated with VETART, the exhibition is an outgrowth of their mission to provide veterans and active-duty military the opportunity to use Deep Arts Engagement to find their voice, process their experiences, and transition to living a civilian life.

Deana Watson-Krasts, an organizer of the event, told us the show will feature the work of 13 veteran artists with about half from Mendocino and Lake Counties. The event will be accompanied by a band whose drummer also served in the military.

Besides the art display, kids are invited to decorate the “Art Car”, participate in medicine bag workshops, and more.
