Firefighters located a human body within a burning vehicle near the Covelo Dump this morning.

The Covelo Fire Department responded to the 90000 block of Refuse Road after reports of a car fire. Inside the burning vehicle, they located a human body. The Mendocino County Coroner was called to the scene a little before 10 a.m.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Van Patten confirmed this initial information and told us a deputy is also heading that way.

  1. Covelo is definitely a scary place. So once I was invited to a Baptism & decided to tag along w/ some friends. I live in ukiah. Everyone was trying to fight, drunk as hell & no control of all the chaos. They took it outside the hall & people started firing their guns. It was like a movie, I was so scared & vowed if I made it out alive, I would never set foot in that town again. Nobody cared & acted like it was an everyday occurrence. Last time I’ve been there..
