State Route 1, Mendocino Coast’s major north-south corridor, is closed this evening after a downed tree, power lines, and resulting traffic collision blocked the roadway.
Scanner trafic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information page indicate the incident began around 5:17 p.m. just south of the Little River Inn after a “large pine tree” fell blocking approximately three-quarters of the roadway.
Around 5:21 p.m., two vehicles collided head-on in the area of the downed tree. There were no injuries visible at the scene.
Once authorities arrived on scene, the Incident Commander confirmed a utility pole was downed in the area as well requring complete closure of the roadway while first responders clear the thoroughfare.
