A search and rescue operation is underway this afternoon after a 72-year-old man went for a walk on or near Wilderness Lodge Road west of Laytonville and went missing.

Information is minimal at this point, but details from a post on the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Facebook and a Nixel Alert indicate search and rescue personnel are in the area of Wilderness Lodge Road close to Branscomb. The missing person is described as a “Hispanic male adult” with short, dark hair, brown eyes, and stubble, wearing reading glasses, a black jacket, and black pants.

Mendocino County Sheriff Matt Kendall told us the man went missing after reportedly going on a walk.

UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: Scanner traffic indicates the subject has been located safely with the assistance of a K9 officer and the search is over.
