As of 5:48 p.m., a California Highway Patrol officer has one subject at gunpoint along State Route 20 approximately four miles east of Fort Bragg. Back up is coverging on the scene.
Scanner traffic began around 5:35 p.m. when a Ford Mustang failed to yield and finally pulled over near mile marker 4.8 in the area of Wildwood Campground.
The officer reported to dispatch that one of the vehicle’s occupants immediately fled into nearby woods and the other remained in the vehicle.
The officer requested backup after reporting the remaining subject was at gunpoint. An air operations helicopter was requested to respond out of CHP’s Golden Gate sector but was unavailable.
Please remember that this story is unfolding. Information is being reported as we gather it. However, some of the information coming from witnesses and initial official reports could be wrong. We will do our best to get the facts but, in the case that something is inaccurate, we will update with correct information as soon as we can.
So we all know how this story goes, the Passenger fled Into the Woods also has whatever was illegal in the vehicle with him. The driver will get a ticket for failure to yield. He’ll have no idea who the passenger was he picked him up hitchhiking and when he did pull over he jumped and fled more and likely that’s how the story will go.
Nothing sweeter than to turn the k9 loose on these losers. Go get eem boi!
One would not expect that there would be a traffic stop WEST of Fort Bragg.
