A semi-truck has overturned on a windy stretch of Highway 101 between Leggett and Piercy near the Mendo/Humboldt County line blocking northbound traffic and reportedly resulting in a major head injury to the driver.
An air ambulance has been deployed for emergency medical transport of the patient.
Scanner traffic and the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page indicated the incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. when the southbound big rig toppled over and came to rest blocking the northbound lane.
There is reportedly one occupant who experienced a major head injury, possibly a brain injury as described by a first responder at the scene.
The truck was reportedly carrying a load of recycled materials that had spilled across the roadway which is blocking a significant stretch of the northbound lane.
