SUV Overturns Causing Heavy Delays on Highway 101 North of Ukiah

A rollover accident has created significant traffic disruptions in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 between Ukiah and Redwood Valley this morning. The incident occurred around 11:15 AM and as of publication traffic is impacted in the area.

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Incident Information Page, the vehicle overturned and ended up on its side in the #2 lane. Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle began leaking fluids, and blocking part of the roadway.

Witnesses reported the involved silver Toyota Highlander was allegedly driving recklessly before the crash in the area of Highway 101 and State Route 162.

Emergency services, including Cal Fire and a wrecker, were dispatched to the scene. Initial reports indicated that there might be injuries involved, though the extent was not immediately clear.

The Caltrans Quickmap shows traffic is still significantly backed up in the area.

Traffic advisories were issued, and cleanup efforts were underway as of 11:33 AM. Drivers in the area should consider alternate routes to avoid delays.

  1. The amount of people driving that zone like complete morons, especially with the low warning merge to single lanes right after two on/off ramps, this is definitely not the last of the accidents we’re gonna see in this stretch without better signage and possibly some LEO attention.

    • Gonna happen again for sure, I almost saw someone crash just today. There’s practically no signs telling you your lane ends in a cement barrier.

      • There could be a thousand bright red flashing signs and people would still ignore all of them, tailgate someone going 85mph, and then act like they had no warning at all. The issue isn’t the lack of signs, it’s people are way too stupid on the road anymore.

    • I don’t think you’re talking about the area where the accident occurred. The roadwork is between the Hwy 20 and West Rd Redwood Valley exits. We drove by the accident shortly after it occurred, and it was about 2 miles south of the roadwork. The SUV was torn to pieces, parts of it all over the freeway.
