Lakeport Fire Triggers Evacuations as Homes Burn

Firefighters are responding to a vegetation fire in Lakeport, California, near the intersection of Highway 29 and Hill Road, with smoke visible from multiple fire cameras.

The fire, which has grown to approximately one acre, is threatening several structures, according to the first arriving unit on the scene.

Scanner traffic indicates traffic indicates that localized evacuations are underway on the east side of Highway 29, specifically in the area of 20th Street and Wild Oak Court, as a precautionary measure.

UPDATE 5:17 p.m.: The Incident Commander reports that the fire has spread to three to four acres, with multiple homes engulfed in flames.

A spot fire has ignited approximately 200 yards ahead of the main fire, according to a helicopter on scene.
