The following is a press release issued by the Santa Rosa CHP Office:
This morning, at approximately 4:12am, Santa Rosa CHP officers were dispatched to a crash on northbound US-101, north of Dry Creek Road. 911 calls to CHP dispatch indicated the involved vehicle was traveling at an excessive high speed prior to the crash. CHP and fire personnel arrived on scene and observed an Infiniti sedan off the roadway and on fire. A male driver was pronounced deceased and female passenger was transported to the hospital with major, but non-life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation indicates the Infiniti was traveling northbound on US-101 at high speeds when the driver lost control. The Infiniti ran off the roadway and impacted a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire. Any inquiries about the deceased should be directed to the Sonoma County Sheriff Coroner’s office.
