A routine traffic stop in Lake County led to the seizure of four pounds of methamphetamine and the arrest of a Clearlake Oaks man, according to a press release from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 6, a sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle in the Hidden Valley area after the driver made an abrupt turn without signaling, nearly causing an accident, officials said.
The driver, identified as Nino Davis, 49, of Clearlake Oaks, was found outside his vehicle, kneeling and glancing around. When approached, Davis told the deputy he was on probation and subject to an active search clause, according to the press release.
After confirming Davis’ probation status, the deputy searched him and his vehicle, uncovering four one-pound packages of methamphetamine that Davis had attempted to conceal underneath the vehicle, authorities said. Davis admitted he had received the drugs outside the county and was instructed to deliver them to an unknown location in Clearlake, according to the sheriff’s office.
Davis was arrested on felony charges of possessing a controlled substance for sale and transporting a controlled substance within and between counties. He was booked into the Hill Road Correctional Facility, officials said.
Authorities reported that the seized methamphetamine totaled more than 1,800 grams, the equivalent of approximately 18,000 doses. The case remains under investigation.
It should be noted that these accusations have not been proven in a court of law and Davis should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Who would have thunk that the good folks of Clear Lake could get by on a mere 4 pounds of meth this week?!
Only 4 pounds?! Sober week for Clear Lake…
