The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at an undisclosed location in or around Hopland.
MCSO Lieutenant Quincy Cromer told us deputies received a call “of a possible shooting in Hopland” around 9:53 a.m. and learned that a “possible shooting victim was reportedly being transported by private vehicle to Hopland CalFire.” The patient was “transported to an out-of-county hospital for an apparent gunshot wound.”
Lieutenant Cromer said, “The case is being actively investigated so additional information will not be released at this time.”
Scanner traffic from that morning indicated the victim was having difficulty breathing after being shot in the chest. They were transported via air ambulance for treatment.
