On-Going Medical Rescue at Big River Beach Regarding Patient with Broken Back ‘Who Cannot Move’

At approximately, 5:00 p.m., scanner traffic indicated rescue personnel are staging on the Big River Beach boat ramp to rescue a medical patient on who broke their back and cannot move.

A medic is currently with the patient and they are performing an assessment. The patient is located on the opposite side of the river from rescuers and a rescuer had to wear a wet suit to reach the patient.

An air ambulance is will be landing at Friendship Park in Mendocino to extricate the patient.

UPDATE 6:22 p.m.

Scanner traffic indicates the patient was successfully extricated and is on their way to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital in a Reach Air Ambulance.
