The following is a press release issued by the Ukiah Police Department:
A single-vehicle accident south of Ukiah has resulted in the death of one person and the injury of two.
On August 7, 2021, at approximately 1:35 AM, Ukiah Police Officers in a fully marked patrol vehicle observed a vehicle running a red light at Gobbi Street and South State Street. The Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop for the observed violation; however, the vehicle failed to stop and sped off.
This led to a pursuit, during which the officers lost of sight of the vehicle, as it was traveling in speeds of excess of 100 mph on Highway 101. While checking the area for the vehicle, the officers located it in the 4000 block of Burke Hill Road, where it had been involved in single-vehicle accident. Officers immediately summoned aid. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, one was airlifted to an out-of-area hospital, and the third was transferred to Ukiah Valley Medical Center.
The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Additional details will be provided as they become available.

I was pulled over at least a dozen times when I was a young adult…sometimes for doing something stupid and sometimes for no reason at all. But there is one thing that I never did and that is try and out run the cops. Do not blame the stupidity of the driver on the cops.
I agree. You take everything away for kids to do and this is the outcome of it!
Very sad situation indeed! Never run from the police! Instead, pull over into a brightly lit area where there are plenty of witnesses with cell phones rolling! Keeps everyone accountable. And hopefully safe.

The the occupants were two 15 year olds and one 14 year old. What’s a 15 year old doing driving? I hear the driver may not make it!
Where do you “hear” that? My daughter knows one of the girls involved and I am desperately searching for more information.
No they were 13 and 14your old . Peopled need to not make comments of they dont know the facts! Thts the problem with this County people start alot of rumors not based on facts

1.Why did register owner of car let 3 young girls at 1am be driven his car around.
2.If young girls sneak out,the parent is responsible for their child till 18,if child is out of control parent has 2 choices,
A. Get them whatever help they need to make,them accountable young adults or
B.Ammancipate the child while he/she is still smart enough to take care of themself.
3. I know I was taught to respect the law, if that siren comes on ,you pull over in a public are ,shut car off crack your window and put both hands on the top of steering wheel, until officer has change to approach and access what is going on. You don’t move your hands until instructed to.
4.Why can’t people step up and take responsibilty for their own action and keep in mind ,We Are Only Humane And All Make Mistakes ,and need to be Adult enough to take responsibility for our action
