Last night at approximately 9:55 p.m. reports of a residential structure fire on Blue Oak Drive south of Ukiah prompted a multi-agency response that kept the home from being a total loss.
Hopland Fire Protection District Chief Mitch Franklin told us the entirety of the home’s garage and a big portion of the kitchen was destroyed as a result of the fire and the cause is “still under investigation.”
According to a Facebook post from the Hopland Fire Prevention District, a robust mutual aid response from the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority, Redwood Valley/Calpella Fire Department, Potter Valley Fire, and Cal Fire assisted in squelching the flames.
Initial reports from responding personnel last night described a large column of smoke rising above the Blue Oak Drive residence.
PG&E responded to the scene last night as well to shut off power and gas. By 10:45 p.m. last night, the Incident Commander reported the fire had been significantly knocked down and the remaining crews were left on the scene for mop-up
