The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol Santa Rosa Office. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:
On February 17, 2022, at approximately 12:32 am, Santa Rosa CHP units responded to a crash on southbound US-101, south of Limerick Lane. It was reported a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle. The pedestrian was observed lying in the roadway and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. Preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet S-10 truck was traveling southbound on US-101. The Chevrolet ran out of gas and stopped on the right shoulder. The male driver walked to get help while the female passenger stayed with the vehicle. The driver returned to the Chevrolet and discovered the female had been hit by a vehicle and was lying in the roadway. The driver called 911 to report the emergency. The suspect vehicle fled the scene after the crash. The investigation is ongoing, but evidence indicates the suspect vehicle is a silver or similar colored 2019-2021 Ram truck. The Ram has collision damage to the right front and possibly on the right side. The Ram truck and driver have not yet been located, but we are investigating multiple leads. Please contact the Santa Rosa CHP Office at (707)588-1400 if you have any information regarding this incident. Any inquiries regarding the identification of the deceased should be directed to the Sonoma County Coroner’s office.
