The following is a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol Office in Clear Lake:
Party #1 was driving Vehicle #1 southbound on SR-29, south of Callayomi St. For reasons still under investigation, Party #1 allowed Vehicle #1 to cross over the double yellow line, across the opposing lane, and leave the east road edge. Party #1 was ejected from Vehicle #1 and both ultimately collided with boulders down an embankment. After the collision, Vehicle # 1 and Party #1 came to rest in a heavily foliaged area. The collision scene was located by a passerby along the creek. Party #1 succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. The name of Party #1 is being withheld pending identification and notification to next of kin.
