[UPDATE: Road Open]Burning Structure Sets Fire to Nearby Vegetation in Redwood Valley

The View Fire is currently burning in Redwood Valley near the 10000 block of West Road originally reported at approximately 6:06 p.m. as a structure fire spreading to an adjacent fence and vegetation.

West Road, between Road N and Tomki Road, will be shut down as the fire personnel address the fire, reported as 100’x100′ spot. The Incident Commander said there is sufficient fire at the scene.

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office issued a situational awareness alert regarding the incident:


UPDATE 6:28 p.m.: The Incident Commander said the fire is now contained. He estimated personnel will be mopping up the area for an hour.

UPDATE 7:05 p.m.: The Incident Commander reported that the fire is out. West Road is still closed at this point between School and Tomki.

  1. Jesus Christ!!…not a day goes by without the threat of a firestorm catastrophe! Are people just stupid or willfully ignorant? Be aware & conscious of your actions & surroundings people! Is it that difficult to NOT start a friggin fire?
