The Donkey Lovers of the Internet Unite Around Two Willits Police Officers Leading Burros Back Home

The Willits Police Department has gone viral within a niche internet sub-culture united by their adoration of donkeys @Precious_Donkeys has over 80,000 followers with hundreds of photos and videos of donkeys in all shapes and sizes.

One week ago, they featured a video originally posted by the Willits Police Department’s Instagram page (@willitspd_official) depicting two officers escorting a pair of wayward donkeys back home.

The pair were reportedly wandering near Howard Memorial Hospital where officers corralled them and took them back home “to greener pastures”. The video depicts two WPD officers driving slowly in their SUVs holding the donkeys’ reins out driver’s side windows. Despite their reputation, the donkeys appear to be cooperative and glad to be on their way home.

The reel has been loved over 11,000 times. One commenter wrote, “Great job officers.Need. More nice officers like out there just like two. You deserve a medal for that good deed.” Another said, “A day of fun and mischief! Awe! I’m glad nothing bad happened to them and both are back at home!”
