Check Out Last Night’s 2nd District Candidate Forum to Find Out Who Deserves Your Vote

California’s Primary election is on March 5, 2024, and we strive to help our readers make informed decisions at the ballot box.

Last night, January 30, MendoFever teamed up with local radio stations KZYX and KMUD and brought together all seven candidates running to represent California’s 2nd District in the State Assembly.

The 2nd District runs from Del Norte to Sonoma County encompassing a large swath of the North Coast, Humboldt, and Mendocino Counties.

The goal of our conversation was to provide each candidate with maximum time to present their ideas, share their vision for the community, and address pressing issues facing our region.

Thank you Sarah Reith of KZYX and KMUD’s Lisa Music and Lauren Schmitt for partnering to make last night happen

  1. Supervisor Williams would have a good shot at ‘failing up’ if he were a County employee, but I hope voters don’t ‘promote’ him to State Assembly when he’s clearly failing in his role as County sup. It’s comical he even put his hat in the ring. The entire BOS is a colossal failure.

  2. What a crowded, fascinating field of candidates. There are a few bright spots, and a few who really have no business running for state office. The only question is: Which of the Sonoma County candidates will buy the opportunity to pretend they represent the rest of this district? Several northern counties that economically, geographically, and politically, might as well be another country will continue to be treated as such in Sacramento.

  3. The problem with Healthcare is that all the doctors are kids from India forced into the profession by their parents. They don’t feel ‘called ‘ to be doctors, they don’t care, they’re making money. What we need to do as a global/local society is encourage people to follow what they’re passionate about so that we have caring professionals who aren’t freaking out about their student loans, but rather freaking out about their patients.
We don’t need doctors with out borders, we need doctors in our own towns!
Transparency be damned! We need to educate ourselves! These doctors are just people. Research your health condition! Become as educated as you can on health, mental health too! Eat right!! Tell someone your problems! Find a witch doctor! Work with your kids teachers! Get away from your phone!! Wear your seat belt and don’t drive like an idiot!! We must take our bodily sovereignty back
