Starting today, May 16th, 2024, significant roadwork will begin on Low Gap Road in Ukiah, CA, affecting nearby streets. This will exacerbate the weekday traffic jams that radiate outwards from the intersection of Low Gap Road and North Bush Street because of the convergence of school traffic and commuters.

Tomorrow’s work is the first day of replacing valley gutters along the north side of Low Gap Road between State Street and Bush Street in preparation for an upcoming repaving project scheduled for mid-June.

The affected streets include Oak Street, Elm Street, and Pine Street at Low Gap Road. Each street will be closed for two days during the process, starting daily at 7 a.m., for the demolition and replacement of valley gutters.

The current schedule for this phase of the project is as follows:

  • Thursday, May 16th: Demolition of Oak valley gutter; Oak at Low Gap will be closed during the day and overnight.
  • Friday, May 17th: Forming and pouring of Oak valley gutter; Oak at Low Gap will remain closed during the day, with trench plates placed by the end of the shift to facilitate reopening.

This process will continue with similar timelines for Elm Street on May 20th and Pine Street on May 23rd. Each street will undergo the demolition and forming of valley gutters before reopening following the completion of the work and safety measures.

Residents and commuters should note that all scheduled work days and times are subject to change due to unforeseen construction issues.
