On June 8, 2024, at approximately 2108 hours, officers from the California Highway Patrol,
Clear Lake Area, responded to a report of a solo collision on Bartlett Springs Road, north of
High Valley Road, in Lucerne, involving a 2023 Can-Am Outlander ATV. A preliminary
investigation indicated the ATV was traveling north on Bartlett Springs Road, north of High
Valley Road, at an unknown speed. For reasons pending further investigation, the driver of
the ATV failed to safely negotiate a curve in the roadway and allowed the ATV to leave the
east road edge of Bartlett Springs Road. The ATV traveled over a descending embankment
and overturned. The driver and juvenile passenger were subsequently ejected from the
ATV before the ATV came to rest upside down.

Following the collision, the juvenile passenger, although injured, was able to walk from the
scene in order to summon assistance. Good Samaritans encountered the injured juvenile
and called 9-1-1. The juvenile was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Santa Rosa for
his injuries.

Emergency personnel from the California Highway Patrol and Northshore Fire Protection
District located the scene of the collision and found the overturned ATV and the driver.
The adult male driver, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin,
was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and All In One Towing also responded to the scene and assisted the California Highway Patrol.

Both the driver and juvenile passenger were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.
The collision is being investigated by CHP Officer V. Farias-Diaz.
