Driver Killed in Single-Car Crash Near Middletown

A tragic single-vehicle accident occurred late this afternoon, Thursday, June 20, 2024, near the Lake County community of Middletown, resulting in the death of the driver. The incident involving a vehicle that went off the road and struck a tree.

According to the California Highway Patrol Incident Information Page initial reports indicated that the vehicle had spun out of control along State Route 29 just south of Twin Pine Casino and Hotel before veering into a ditch and ultimately colliding with a tree. Emergency responders were alerted at 4:30 PM and were dispatched to the scene.

Reports from the scene indicated the vehicle was significantly damaged. At 4:34 PM, it was reported that a Tesla and an additional vehicle had pulled over to the right-hand side of the road, appearing to assist the victim.

Despite efforts by passersby and emergency responders, the extent of the damage and the severity of the impact resulted in fatal injuries for the driver.
