Driver Flees After Crashing into Fire Hydrant in Ukiah

A traffic collision occurred at 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Ukiah’s South Orchard Avenue and East Perkins Street.

Scanner traffic indicates the incident involved a vehicle crashing into a fire hydrant and the driver reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Two patients were reported injured, and two ambulances were requested to the scene for medical assistance.


UPDATE 5:05 p.m.: An image sent to us shows water flooding the intersection significantly slowing traffic. The photographer estimated there is 2′ of water in the roadway and told us they witnessed a truck had come to rest on top of the broken fire hydrant.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternative routes around the affected area.
