Law Enforcement Comb the Woods of Albion Ridge Searching for the Redbearded Burglar

The Many Faces of the Redbearded Burglar, aka William Evers, released by Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office as they have searched for him for over half a year

Mendocino County law enforcement’s hunt for William Allan Evers, aka the Redbearded Burglar, continued today in the coastal community of Albion just days after a resident found Evers stealing vegetables from a garden and Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office deputies captured footage of him fleeing the area after they had arrived.

MCSO’s Captain Greg Van Patten told us today’s search was not prompted by a subsequent sighting of Evers but was “self-initiated” by MCSO.”

Captain Van Patten said MCSO personnel including “SWAT, Patrol, Task Force, K9” and some allied coast law enforcement affected today’s search in the area of Albion Ridge Road, Navarro Ridge Road, Middle Ridge Road, and the Salmon Creek Drainage.

In a seven-hour period, these teams walked approximately 17 miles trying to locate Evers in what Captain Van Patten described as “very challenging terrain to search and do so quietly.” The search yielded “signs/evidence of Evers” but no direct contact with him.

William Evers is considered “armed and dangerous” by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office who suspect him of firing upon deputies in mid-May and stealing a rifle from a Philo cabin just days later.

He is described “as a white male adult, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and reddish facial hair.” Other notable features include “a skull or skulls tattoo on his right upper arm, “Demon face” tattoo on his upper left arm and an “unknown prominent tattoo on his chest.”

MCSO asks, “Anyone who observes suspicious activity or possible sightings of William Evers, especially those persons who live/visit Middle Ridge Road in Albion, are asked to immediately notify the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office by calling 707-961-2421 for non-emergencies or 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.”
