Hopland-area residents are on edge this morning while a fugitive last seen carrying a large knife remains at large. 41-year-old Christian Ernest Beyer was located by law enforcement yesterday afternoon in the area of Hopland’s Antique Shop on Highway 101 and allegedly fled on foot carrying a knife and another “unknown object”.

Scanner traffic from yesterday evening indicated he was seen in the area of State Route 175 and McDowell Street, right in the middle of what is referred to as “Old Hopland”.

Law enforcement deployed K9s, unmanned aerial vehicles, and an aircraft in efforts to locate Beyer yesterday morning but called off the search well after dark.

Captain Greg Van Patten confirmed that as of this morning, Beyer remained at large.

A booking log from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office indicates Beyer was arrested for misdemeanor disorderly conduct by deputies on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Captain Greg Van Patten said this arrest stemmed from a contact that occurred in Ukiah’s El Dorado subdivision last Saturday, September 23, 2023

A document from August 2022 entitled “Summarized Report of Results of Trial” from the U.S. Military provides an overview of the various military adjudications that occurred that month. Christian Beyer was convicted by a military judge of “one specification disrespect to a noncommissioned officer, one specification of provoking speech, one specification of assault, and one specification of domestic violence.” His punishment was forfeiting $250 per month for four months, a reduction in rank, and confinement for 43 days.

Beyer has a YouTube Channel he began populating with content last month with the first video posted on September 23, 2023. In all of his published videos, his speech is fast paced, his teeth are clenched, and he is often speaking of a variety of law enforcement and military entities threatening or following him.

He posted at 13-minute video of his arrest by Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office entitled “Police Brutality”. Beyer can be heard berating responding deputies and cursing at them. One deputy is clearly impatient and taken aback by Beyer’s aggression while the other attempts to neutralize the situation. Around the 11 minute mark of the video, deputies detain Beyer.

Later on, he posted a video entitled “LEAVING THE MENOCINO COUNTY TORTURE CHAMBER” clearly recorded in the lobby of the Mendocino County Jail where he alleges abuse at the hands of correctional staff.

Law enforcement requests the public stay vigilant and keep their eyes open for Beyer. He is described as 6’ 5”, 250 pounds, and wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. If you have any information about his whereabouts, please contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office at 707-463-4086 or the Tip line at 707-234-2100.

    • YES lucky he did not butcher innocent people in Hopland just going about their day. makes me want to get a conceal carry permit because pepper spray is not gonna stop a psycho attacking me with a large knife. I frequent Hopland and this man really pisses me off! he’s a scumbag and needs to be behind bars! He’s most likely on meth! We’re lucky no one is dead murdered by this psychotic weirdo.

  1. He is only maybe 6’0 and barely 170ibs.

He is having a mental health issue.

Carjacking is not real. It his uncle’s who passed away. Aka his car now.

The article needs to reflect that he is having a mental breakdown.

Not that he is some criminal.

    • Agreed.

This article needs to change. It speaks to the last year that he has had trouble and disregards the 22 years, 4-5 combat deployments and honorable service to this country prior to that.

      • Wonder why he didn’t retire at the 20 year mark? Full service pension at a young age! Sad the guy obviously needs some help, and it sounds like the military threw him away, and now he’s being sought as a criminal when he’s in need of help!

  2. It’s sad this man when he retired went to ft Carson to seek mental health. Fort irwin banned him from all military bases and from seeking any mental health. Can we not address how the military failed him
While he was in and the. Before this went over board they still denied him mental health he was seeking.
