The following is a press release issued by the Woods Cooperative:

The Woods Cooperative Association (WCA), a Resident Owned Community (ROC) for adults ages 55 +, received a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Mendocino County (CFMC) for $7,500.00. The grant made possible the timely removal of dead trees bordering The Woods at Little River Airport Road. Some of the dead trees were leaning on AT&T and cable power lines. With the support of the grant, the hazardous situation bordering The Woods has been addressed. Appreciation is extended to WCA Board Secretary, Carol Bishop, who wrote and submitted the Tree and Brush Fire Safety Project Proposal which was accepted in December 2023..
CFMC Board member Paula Cohen came to The Woods on behalf of the Foundation to present the award. Photos also document the Fire and Safety Project before, during, and after. The project was completed in January 2024 and the outcome is most impressive.
WCA Board Member, Susan Holli, expresses her gratitude to The Community Foundation of Mendocino County for recognizing the need, and then funding this endeavor. Holli stated, “As a resident-owned community of 109 households, we are grateful for the support of The Community Foundation of Mendocino County, and other entities from the larger community, helping address safety and other common issues that face us all in this region. We are all better off when we work together.”
