A 34-year-old woman from Clearlake tragically lost her life in a crash on State Route 20 east of Verna Way last night, April 28, 2024.

As per a press release issued by the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 10:05 p.m. when CHP Clear Lake units responded to reports of an overturned sedan blocking the westbound lane of SR-20.

According to initial investigations by CHP, the driver, identified as a 34-year-old Clearlake woman, was traveling eastbound on SR-20 when her Honda Civic crossed into the westbound traffic lane for unknown reasons. The Civic then left the roadway and collided with a dirt and rock embankment, resulting in the vehicle overturning. The force of the crash ejected the driver from the vehicle.

Medical personnel at the scene pronounced the driver deceased upon arrival. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation by authorities.

  1. You give her name twice then say it’s being withheld till next of kin is notified. I hope they were notified before this got out…

  2. I don’t see any where, where it states a name. Only that shes a female and that she was 34 and from Clear lake. That all I see. No name.

  3. Thank You Monica for the details you have covered in this article. I Appreciate the all the Public Servants working on our Community Water Supply needs. Re the mentioned plans for a new 120 home subdivision on Lovers Lane: … WOW! … I would like to learn more about that, how big of parcels, and where the water is coming from. Color me Curious :+)

  4. I’d like to see a official study done on accidents on 20 there. Wondering if drivers are tired from long drives returning home….lack of sleep going somewhere, intoxication, inexperience, check phone records to see if active at time of accident.. nice to see if a pattern in a location where there are so many including fatalities.

    • Pretty much all of the above…The worst of it is the morning work commute over to Ukiah etc.
The tailgater situation is horrendous with people passing over the double lines and so forth.
Add to the mix the tweekers, texters, drinkers, and yes I’ll say it the stoners and the general
lack of law enforcement it’s a wonder that there isn’t a lot more carnage.Fucking blood alley!
