Categories:

The following is a press release from the Ukiah Police Department. The information has not been proven in a court of law and any individuals described should be presumed innocent until proven guilty:

On 01/25/2025 at approximately 11:45 pm a Ukiah Police Department (UPD) Officer was on routine patrol in the parking lot of Friedman’s when he noticed a Dodge pickup parked on the north side of the building. The pickup truck’s windows were fogged up, indicating that someone was inside. A record check on the vehicle advised the officer that the Dodge’s registration was expired in 2024.

The officer approached the Dodge and found Greg Burnett asleep in the driver’s seat. Burnett immediately began acting suspiciously, including reaching around inside the vehicle and denying that he was on any probation.

A record check of Burnett revealed that there was an active felony warrant for his arrest out of Lake County, CA and he was on active Formal Probation out of Lake County for a previous violation of 422(a) PC-Criminal  Threats. Burnett was asked to step out of the vehicle and was taken into custody for the arrest warrant.

Inside the truck in between the driver’s seat and the center console, directly where Burnett had tried to reach,  officers located a loaded, Colt Cobra .38 Special revolver. A further search of the vehicle yielded a baggie of  methamphetamine and hundreds of stolen and forged checks.

Burnett was arrested and transported to the Mendocino County Jail where he was booked for four felony charges: 11370.1(a) H&S, 29800(a)(1) PC, 25850(c)(6) PC, 30305(a)(1) PC, and the felony warrant. Burnett’s felony warrant out of Lake County was for violations of 422(a) PC and 1203.2(a) PC. The Ukiah Police  Department will conduct further investigation regarding the stolen checks.
