Mere hours after announcing a potential sighting and subsequent pursuit of the Redbearded Burglar, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has announced William Evers once again eluded them in the woods of Albion Ridge.
According to a Facebook post by MCSO, one SWAT team member and a K9 handler sustained injuries as a result of the search and they are being “medically evaluated today to determine the severity of their injuries.”
Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office has been attempting to capture Evers for over six months. During the span of those months, Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office accuses Evers of burglarizing multiple residences and at one point firing upon deputies.
The Facebook post explains MCSO responded at 4:30 this morning after Evers fled an unoccupied home in the 32000 block of Navarro Ridge Road where he was sighted at midnight.
The sighting resulted in “All available MCSO sworn personnel were called to the scene (on-duty and off-duty personnel) to assist in apprehending Evers.”
Due to “the darkness and terrain,” Evers “was able to elude apprehension by MCSO SWAT Team members and two Sheriff’s Office K9 teams.”
The Facebook post identifies Evers last known whereabouts as “running toward the Salmon Creek drainage North to Northeast of the home.”
Evers is described “as a white male adult, 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes, brown hair and reddish facial hair.” Other notable features include “a skull or skulls tattoo on his right upper arm, “Demon face” tattoo on his upper left arm and an “unknown prominent tattoo on his chest.”
MCSO asks residents to “Please call 9-1-1 if you see anything suspicious in the areas of Salmon Creek, Middle Ridge Road and Navarro Ridge Road in Albion.”
